Can You Help Me?

IMG_0472
I’ve been working hard this year to exercise more. While I started out with a bang – swimming, walking, and dancing in the dark – I’m ending the year with a whimper. Granted, I did finish a 5k last weekend, but I walked the whole thing. I don’t necessarily *want* to run, but I think I’d like the option.
I’m working on goals for 2016 and, again, fitness is in the top three..namely getting more healthy. I’m big and beautiful, I know this. But I am not as healthy as I could be and I know that, too. So, in an effort to do even better with my fitness in 2016, I’m entering a contest for 7 months of free personal training. The company offering the training is Crane L.I.F.E. Fitness and I’m excited to hopefully try them out and report back.
Please take a moment and vote for me here. The top 5 contestants in votes will then be interviewed by Matt Crane, the personal trainer, and he will decide after that. Fingers crossed!
Thank you in advance for helping me with one of my 2016 goals. 😃

Internet Woes

Our internet is flaking in and out so I’m going to make this short and sweet to get it in. Today kicked my butt in most every aspect, but I survived and PREVAILED! Stressful day at work (but good, busy, and I’m very thankful), and 2 workouts at Iron Tribe after. To say I’m done is an understatement. I still can’t believe the amazing outpouring for the bike and it’s still coming. I posted an update to it late last night and you can check it out here: http://www.youcaring.com/help-a-neighbor/Birthday-Wish-A-Bike-/39870

I will leave you with some wonderful words…this really is the good life.

“Good Life”
by One Republic

Woke up in London yesterday
Found myself in the city near Piccadilly
Don’t really know how I got here
I got some pictures on my phoneNew names and numbers that I don’t know
Address to places like Abbey Road
Day turns to night, night turns to whatever we want
We’re young enough to say

Oh this has gotta be the good life
This has gotta be the good life
This could really be a good life, good life

Say oh, got this feeling that you can’t fight
Like this city is on fire tonight
This could really be a good life
A good, good life

To my friends in New York, I say hello
My friends in L.A. they don’t know
Where I’ve been for the past few years or so
Paris to China to Colorado

Sometimes there’s airplanes I can’t jump out
Sometimes there’s bullshit that don’t work now
We all got our stories but please tell me-e-e-e
What there is to complain about

When you’re happy like a fool
Let it take you over
When everything is out
You gotta take it in

Oh this has gotta be the good life
This has gotta be the good life
This could really be a good life, good life

Say oh, got this feeling that you can’t fight
Like this city is on fire tonight
This could really be a good life
A good, good life

Hopelessly
I feel like there might be something that I’ll miss
Hopelessly
I feel like the window closes oh so quick
Hopelessly
I’m taking a mental picture of you now
‘Cause hopelessly
The hope is we have so much to feel good about

Oh this has gotta be the good life
This has gotta be the good life
This could really be a good life, good life

Say oh, got this feeling that you can’t fight
Like this city is on fire tonight
This could really be a good life
A good, good life

Oh yeah
Good, good life
Good life
Ooh

Listen
My friends in New York, I say hello
My friends in L.A. they don’t know
Where I’ve been for the past few years or so
Paris to China to Colorado

Sometimes there’s airplanes I can’t jump out
Sometimes there’s bullshit that don’t work now
We all got our stories but please tell me-e-e-e
What there is to complain about

Homecoming

Today’s post is going to be short and sweet because, well, my man came home from a business trip today and I want to spend time with him. 🙂

I have worked out 3 days in a row now and I’m not in terrible pain. I can’t figure out if it’s because a) I’m working out more so my muscles are getting used to it or b) I’m taking Advocare Catalyst which I know helps with recovery. Whatever it is, I am a happy camper. I’m still somewhat sore, but not like I have been in the past. Today’s workout consisted of snatches 1-1-1-1-1-1-1 (finding our maximum weight that we can lift in a snatch..mine was 65 lbs.) and then front squats 3-3-3-3-3 (again, finding out the max weight we can lift in a series of 3 reps 5 times…mine was 85 lbs.) and then as many head stand push ups as we can do in 3 minutes. I have to scale those and do them from a box, but I got 31 in.

There are exciting things on the horizon for Birmingham and, hopefully, for myself. I am thinking, writing, and working out the details, but I hope to unveil a new look and presence soon. I hope you will stick around for the show.

I’m tuckered out and it’s freezing outside. I’m snuggling up with my new electric blanket, my man, pup, cat, and bidding you farewell. And remember, dear readers,

Love yourself.
Find peace inside.
Share happiness.
